Extra-curricular Activities (An Analogy)

An extra-curricular activity is like another book that a college students might choose to carry despite of his already heavy books. However, unlike his academic books, this new book may save him from boredom and stress. He can meet new people, be friends with others, express his self, and show his talents through this book.

"An extra-curricular activity is like another book that a college STUDENT might choose to carry despite (OMIT "OF"; USE "OF" WITH "IN SPITE", NOT "DESPITE") his already heavy books."

"He can meet new people, be friends with others, express HIMself, and show his talents through this book."

VERY GOOD ANALOGY.
