College Relationships

College friends are like high school friends. Both will let us borrow their pens if he or she doesn’t have one. They will let us copy their assignments if we were too lazy to do ours. They will invite fellow friends to the mall after class. They will always serve as a bad influence and a good one at the same time. College friends, like high school friends, will always be there for us as our second family.

EXCELLENCE STARTS ON ACADEMIC WORK

All things sprang from small beginnings. A little effort exerted makes the picture a complete one. In academics, one has to go through ladder of experiences before one reaches the top. When one enters the room and pick up a chair, the journey begins. Listening in the discussion builds the first step. Application of the lessons learned through assignments works for the second step. It follows that one can perform on examinations. These are some of the few works handed over, that as one looks back, he or she has seen the development brought about by academic work.

How Does A Typical College Professor Teaches?

It is one thing to be cool but it is another to be revolutionary. College professors clearly show that they are the latter. They use different ways when they teach so that students can learn in the way that is easiest for them. The moment a typical college professor enters the room, he immediately discusses the lessons intended for that day. He might use a chalkboard or a projector. Then, students participate through answering the questions asked by the professor. After some sorts of discussions and explanations, the professor gives exercises to know if the students really understand the lessons. Then, he might also assign homeworks. Finally, he checks the attendance and eventually dismisses the class.

Extra-curricular Activities (An Analogy)

An extra-curricular activity is like another book that a college students might choose to carry despite of his already heavy books. However, unlike his academic books, this new book may save him from boredom and stress. He can meet new people, be friends with others, express his self, and show his talents through this book.

It started with a letter

Letters form words, and words form phrases/clauses/sentences. Sentences form paragraphs, and paragraphs result to any kind of writing. First, it’s just a misused letter that could result to a misspelled word, later, your whole writing is already stained, then your grade would rely on what you did. Now, you’re bothered if you’ll fail or not. Imagine, it was just a letter.

It is often developed by certain school activities, group works, researches wherein a person gets to mingle with his or her colleagues. It builds a set of beliefs and perspectives that one can use in his or her life. This kind of relationship exhibits the start of having s deep and serious interaction between the people involved. Indeed, it is not merely knowledge that we gain from college: college relationship proves it.

Extra Curricular Activities in UPDEPP and in other Universities

Talent Competitions, fashion shows, pageants and mind-wracking contests are just some of the extra curricular activities in UPDEPP. These events happen throughout the academic year. Students are free to join in these events to represent their organization or their blocks. Unlike in other universities, extra curricular activities only happen during their yearly foundation week, and students represent their courses. In UPDEPP, extra curricular activities are organized by the organizations, fraternities and sororities which are only composed of students while in other universities, extra curricular activities are managed by the school administrators. The organizers and the time of executing these events differentiate the extra curricular activities in UPDEPP from other universities.

shortest bible verses

Job 3:2-"He said"
John 11:35-"Jesus wept"
1 Thessalonians 5:16-"Be joyful always"
1 Thessalonians 5:17-"Pray continually"

These are some of the verses that I learned in Sunday School as the ones to always have in your pocket. The most famous among these is Jesus wept (john 11:35). This occurred when Jesus went to Lazarus' tomb after Lazarus had died. so whenever you're asked to recite a verse, just choose among the list above. it's never too hard to memorize a bible verse this short.

sweet acronyms

My friend once texted me "ITALY bea" I dont know what my friend means with that so i asked her what does that mean. "I Trust And Love You bea" she replied.
Acronyms are word formed by combining the beginning letters of a name or phrase. some examples are IMY (I Miss You) and ILY (I Love You). Nowadays, most people use a lot of acronyms especially on text messages and chats. This shows informal usage of english language or just to shorten words so it can be easily written and memorize. It can be helpful, especially on initializing names of agencies, memorizing concepts in school and more, but it also can create confusion at times.

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious is an English word, with 34 letters, that was in the song with the same title in the Disney musical film Mary Poppins. The roots of the word have been defined as follows: super- "above", cali- "beauty", fragilistic- "delicate", expiali- "to atone", and docious- "educable", with the sum of these parts signifying roughly "Atoning for educability through delicate beauty." It is defined as "something to say when you have nothing to say".This word is considered as one of the most famous longest words in English language.

When Change is not

"The more things change, the more they stay the same.."

There are other countless ironic life quotes. Surprisingly, most of these quotes prove to be the more valuable compared to others. They do not only challenge a person of being able to grasp profound grammar, but they also give people important reflection. The quote above is confusing at first, but it soon makes us realize a painful reality. When we learn to face and accept change, we then learn to consider that change is not "change" at all. We accept "change" and see it as part of a monotonous process -- a cycle.

ANALYZING CAUSE AND EFFECT: COLLEGE PROFESSORS

University of the Philippines professors tend to train their students to be more competitive. Though many students complain about the difficulty of their subjects, the professors keep a consistent attitude of being strict towards their teaching. Instructors show this kind of picture is because they trust their students to be capable enough to surpass the academic challenges. Due to this kind of training, no UP student will graduate ignorant and incompetent.

Classifying Academic Works

A library contains an adequate selection of academic works. These academic works go under certain sections in the library. The periodical section showcases a vast collection of newspapers, magazines, journals, and certain print materials updated to fill the readers in with the most recent affairs. The library comprises informative print materials such as but not limited to textbooks, research papers, dictionaries, thesaurus, and encyclopedias. The audio visuals section provides films and documentaries which are very essential to learning since they give the learner a more vivid understanding on information seen in books.

Say something men!

The seminar I attended yesterday was worth may time. I really don't attend any seminars during high school because they've never met my expectation and I always find them boring; but yesterday's was good,I learned a lot from it. One of the quotes that captured my attention was this, "Youngsters with poor communication skills are sometimes viewed as less attractive by their peers and enjoy fewer friendships."

Essay Exams

Students believe that in writing essay exams, all they have to do is make their answers as lengthy as they needed. But, essay exams should allow one to demonstrate one’s mastery of the topic and one’s critical thinking with the use of the ability to synthesize. One has to prepare well and answer the questions concisely, coherently and completely.

it is cool when you talk cool

Earlier in Marquee Mall, my block mates and I attended a Youth Assembly. This assembly aims to wake up us, youth, in what are now happening in our country and what we may contribute. One of the guess speaker is ma'am Alfelor. Her topic was about Developing Speech Communication Skills towards a Promising Career. This talk really inspired me to develop my communication skills, because I realized that it is cool when you talk cool.

Portmanteau Words are Amazing

Have you ever wondered where the word "blog" came from? Just recently, I have discovered that the word "blog" is actually  a combination of the words web and log. Interesting huh? Portmanteau or blend words are derived by combining portions of two or more separate words. Other examples of these words are:  "motor + hotel = motel," "motorcar + cavalcade = motorcade" but what amazed me most is the word "goodbye" which was derived from the sentence "God + be (with) + ye."
